AFTER batik was crowned by UNESCO as a world heritage
derived from the native Indonesia, many people do not fully understand the
actual meaning of batik itself, and how the public can take part in
preservation efforts, especially in Pekalongan batik.
This was stated by Zahir Widadi ,SS . Hum , Dean of the
University Faculty Batik Pekalongan to Radar Pekalongan , Friday ( 11/4 )
"The definition of UNESCO inaugurated batik is the
process of using the color of the night, by means of the canting, write,
stamp, or a combination of the fabric. otherwise it can not be said of batik, so if there is then a wall painted with motifs such as batik, it can not be
called batik.
Zahir said, batik it actually has a deep value philosophy
of life. "Every scratch in a motif in a fabric that has a value that is
the philosophy of life in the community. Therefore to make a good batik design
takes at least 6 months, even up to one year, "he said.
"Many people do not understand it, many of us only
know that there is an image with a pattern that is called batik batik. Though
not, well that should be returned, the real understanding of the batik
especially the young generation, especially in Pekalongan batik is known as the
city of the world, because if this is allowed batik hundred years in the
future we will be lost, "he said
Zahir said, to overcome this value shift is need for
synergy between government, academia, the craftsmen, and the community in
order to restore the value of batik batik. "So when there is a buyer
batik, craftsmen or seller should provide an understanding of the types of
batik are sold , then the manufacturing process and so on. So Indonesian batik
recognized by UNESCO was not only a tangible object but also its value remains
our duty, "he concluded.
